. . . FOR THOSE JUST BEGINNING . . .
(others are also welcome)

Yoga for Beginners

If you are brand new to yoga, this is definitely the place to start. Experienced students seeking a refresher on the basics or those who prefer a class that moves at a gentle and mindful pace are also welcome. We will explore the fundamental poses (asanas) and breathwork (pranayama) that are the building blocks of a lifelong yoga practice.

Kinder, Gentler Yoga

This class offers a traditional hatha yoga practice with focus on alignment, breath and creating space in the body. Shorter, simpler vinyasas are punctuated with longer held poses. This is a “no-judgement” class and is suitable for all levels.

Yoga For Healthy Aging

The focus of Yoga for Healthy Aging classes is to teach and cultivate a sense of equanimity and the ability to move through life transitions with peace and grace. Classes include yoga postures that develop flexibility, strength, balance and agility, breathing techniques to improve respiratory functioning and mindfulness training for emotional well being. Students begin class seated in a chair, progress to standing with the chair available for balance as needed, and end with the choice of finishing class in the chair or on the mat. . . . FOR THOSE WHO HAVE THE BASICS DOWN . . .

Gentle Yoga

For those familiar with yoga basics and seeking a “breath-body“ connection, this is a great class full of positive energy and encouragement. This mindful, slower-paced class fosters self-acceptance, compassion, inner strength, and wisdom. Students are offered plenty of modifications, encouraging them to honor and accept where they are in their practice.

your Community Yoga Flow

This 80-minute, hatha/slow-flow style class is led by YCYC owner, Jen, and embodies the spirit of our studio. The longer class allows more time for focused breathwork, mindful movement and offers the opportunity for students to connect to themselves as well as their fellow students.

Sunrise Yoga

A regular early morning practice is the perfect way to start your day off right in both mind and body. Sunrise Yoga includes intention setting, breathwork and slow flow style movements to prepare you for whatever the day brings. This class is offered Monday through Friday and is taught by a variety of instructors, each bringing their own unique style.

kripalu Yoga Flow

Explore the balance between effort and ease while strengthening your body. This practice includes centering, breathing, warmups, postures and relaxation. Building on a foundational approach, more challenging poses are introduced at a moderate pace with modifications to adapt the practice to meet the needs and experience of students.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga, as taught by Yoga Bhajan, weaves together posture (asana), rhythmic movement, breath (pranayama), chanting (mantra) and meditation. This energizing, relaxing and contemplative practice promotes physical, emotional and spiritual energetic healing in our daily lives and opens us to joy.

Smiling Spirit Yoga

In this class we will explore a wide range of movement in a slow flow form that is intended to express the body’s needs while gaining strength and flexibility. We will focus on alignment and explore different ways yoga can carry into our lives off the mat. This class will be relaxing, soothing, challenging and mindful, and will be accessible to all with a basic knowledge of yoga and ones own body.

. . . FOR THOSE READY TO DELVE DEEPER . . .

Intermediate Yoga

S L O W A N D S T E A D Y
This class is appropriate for those students who already have a solid grounding in the basics of yoga asana and pranayama and wish to delve more deeply into the philosophical aspects of Yoga. This slow and steady practice enables us to find stability and ease—the two golden rules of Yoga asana. Experience the richness of the Himalayan Tradition of Hatha Tantra Yoga (as taught by the Himalayan Institute) as you practice breath-aligned movement, pranayama (breath training) and meditation. The Tantric element weaves together other aspects, such as the basic principles of Ayurveda (the sister science of Yoga) and Yoga wisdom as taught in the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and other ancient texts. The resulting alchemy of these practices provides a road map for living a life of fulfillment and joy. There are no hands-on adjustments in this class.
