The Handpan is a musical instrument with a unique vibe to its tone, captivating the listener with a strong hypnotic draw. One special quality of these instruments are their warm, resonant, magical sounds with perfectly balanced tuned harmonics. Made up of two rounded metal hemispheres which are glued or welded together, the Handpan’s shape isreminiscent of an unidentified flying object.
MORE ABOUT OUR HANDPAN ARTISTS
• Amy Naylor – handpan player, songwriter, and music facilitator from England, is currently touring her 2023 album “The Earth Teaches”, and spreading the handpan joy through online classes and various workshop events. Knowing just how transformative and empowering the simple act of playing music together can be, she crafts her shows and workshops to create a space where this connection can blossom. With the handpan at the center, she plays repetitive mantra-like songs for all to be involved in, breaking down the barrier between “performer” and “audience.
• Jim LoPresti – born in Bridgeport, CT, Jim began creating music at the age of 8 with his accordion. After years of playing multiple instruments his true love landed on percussion. Though he has played in several bands of different genres he now focuses primarily on the handpan. He has released several albums integrating handpan and electronic sounds. Jim is a sound bath practitioner offering sound meditation in various spaces in CT. He also performs regularly, solo and with his psych-rock band Earth Passenger.
• Sarah Paz Hyde – chemist, handpan musician, vocalist, calmUNITY organizer and visual artist,. Her creative spirit derives from a multicultural upbringing and holistic, spiritual approach to engaging life, fused with a deep-seeded connection to curiosity. Currently based in Maryland, discovering the handpan brought her full circle to her life’s purpose, “aiding others in more deeply connecting their being to balance within the body + mind + spirit.”
